Cindy Dee is a very gifted make up artist. She made make up for our models many times, so we decided to tell you about Cindy and her art.

BIO

Cindy live in a fantastic and adorable neighborhood in Shanghai. She has been working as a makeup artist for 10 years now. When she discovered that she could actually get paid to do makeup, she went to college and studied professional fashion and theatrical make up. After that, she worked in retail for various brands. Clients started to ask her to do private events and Cindy started her freelance work from there. Since 2008 she has been working with TV shows, films, magazines and a variety of private clients etc... in every job she had gained wonderful experience as well as new friends and connections.

MMA: Why you decided to be a makeup artist?

Cindy: I started playing with make up when I was a kid. Then in my late teens I moved to Ireland Where I discovered MAC! That was the beginning of my passion for makeup and art. I didn't even know it could be a job before then and now it's my reality.

MMA: What kind of thing was hard for you, when you made a first step?

Cindy: Building clientele! At the beginning is really difficult to get noticed. It takes quite sometimes to gain a clientele base. I believe that I do my best; and work hard to prove myself as a make up artist to show that I'm great at what I do.

MMA: Where do you take your inspiration?

Cindy: I like to be inspired and learn from art and nature. The best approach is to be creative, practical, and open minded to inspirations that life gives you. Take notes of your shoot surroundings.

MMA: Is it hard for you to find a good team with good quality skills ? if yes.. pls tell us why?

Cindy: I like to work with different teams and try different things, in the end we always get something really cool.

MMA: With what kind of models do you like to work?

Cindy: I love when models have some unique features, a bit different from the mainstream, also to be easy going of course.

MMA: With what kind of photographers do you like to work with?

Cindy: Open minded and creative. I love to collaborate when I can, that's when magic can happen.

MMA: Whats your favorite shooting where you take a part?

Cindy: Recently I've work with the men's wear designer Kieren Walker as the art director with his line No.633. We had 4 amazing male models and great photographer Amanda Yang, styling by Cesar Martinez. We had this great shooting in Shanghai, lovely day but was freezing.... everyone was very professional and now we are editing the final photos, super excited!

MMA: Have you ever had job for any famous brands?

Cindy: Yes I've worked with a few and they've been amazing experiences as well as a bit of fun. Working for the brands has given me a better understanding of the product. I've worked for MAC, Urban Decay and Benefit.
